Martha L. Ballard was born 12/4/1937 in Tampa, Florida to Mattie L. Wright and Leroy Allen. She passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at her residence in Wilmington. DE. Martha received her early childhood education in the Florida public school system. She attended Howard High School. After High School, she worked at People’s Settlement as a teacher’s aid for 30+ years. Martha loved attending Ezion Fair Baptist Church. She had many hobbies and interests. She loved to shop, collect elaborate hats, and listen to music. She had an amazing sense of humor. She’s known to be sassy and was quite the comedian. “Ms. Drop it like it’s hot” was always known to show them how it’s done on the dance floor. She enjoyed getting dressed up and had a unique sense of fashion. Martha was proceeded in death by her husband William Ballard, her sons Vincent Allen and Gerald Foster Jr, and brother Samuel Moultray. Martha has left to cherish her memory her children Kim Allen, Roma Romeo, Denise Foster, Gail Foster, Carla Foster, and Gary Foster. Her sisters Sandra Johnson and Renee Moultray (Samuel Moultray), devoted cousin Laura Davis, cousins Marie Scriven (Philadelphia), Mable Edwards (Georgia), devoted granddaughter Nikita Foster, 21 grandchildren, and multiple great-grandchildren, Goddaughter Teria Beasley, loyal friend Pauline McNeil and a host of loving relatives and friends.
