Olivia Webb

August 7, 1942 — July 12, 2025

Olivia “Libby” Webb was born on August 7, 1942 in Wilmington, DE the 16th of 17 children, to the late William H. and Daisy E. Webb. She departed this life on Saturday, July 12, 2025 in Wilmington.

Libby received her early education from Wilmington Public Schools. She graduated from P.S. DuPont High school. Following her graduation she worked as a home health aide and then for 17 years at Wilmington Memorial Hospital as a medical assistant. Libby was a faithful member of Scott AME Zion church in Wilmington until illness prevented her from attending much anymore. But it never stopped her from praising God.

It wasn’t uncommon to find Libby going around the house singing gospel music as she was getting ready for church or when spending time with the kids. In addition to gospel, to say Libby loved music is an understatement. All music. From old fashioned gospel (she didn’t like the “new stuff”) to Motown to showtunes to K-pop, or whatever the grandkids were listening to, Libby would listen and would sing and dance when trying to figure out how to work her Alexa. She also was always willing to learn and never let age stop her. Libby always had a story to tell, “Now listen,” was her favorite phrase. She loved watching movies (as her video collection showed) , and playing video games and board games and would play for hours with her kids and later the grandkids. And in her downtime would read (especially autobiographies), do crossword puzzles, watch soap operas, watch and sometimes attend professional wrestling events, and in her later years watch YouTube and spend time on social media, especially TikTok and her Facebook (“it’s how I keep in touch with family”). She was also an avid doll collector with over 100 dolls. She loved theater and going to musicals, from Broadways shows to community theater, especially those casting her family. Libby also loved to travel. From New York to Europe to Disney World to Ocean City, she was always traveling with the family.

Family was life to Libby. She attended every event she could to support her family. From school plays to field trips to school events with her kids to later doing the same with her grandkids and she will be sorely missed.

Libby was preceded in death by her Mother, Daisy, her Father, William, and her siblings, Pauline, James, Oliver, Elsie, Florence, Rose, and Cordell.

She is survived by her three children, son, Robert Webb of Maine, and daughters, Rosa Sutton (Matthew) and Laura Webb, both of New Castle, DE; her brothers, Phillip Webb and Flordell Webb, both of Wilmington, DE. She was Gam-Gam to 7 grandchildren: Melody, Andre and Darren Webb Oliver and Gabriel Sutton, and Lyric and Christian Wills and a great host of relatives and friends.
