    Diane R. Hughes

    February 12, 1956 - March 20, 2022

Diane R. Hughes was born February 12, 1956 in Salem, New Jersey and passed away March 20, 2022. Diane attended Penns Grove High School. She worked at Cadia Healthcare for 16 years where she was a loving, caring, and extraordinary CNA. She loved helping people, it was just in her, no matter if it was her patients, family, or friends. Don’t get it wrong, you could work her nerves, but in the end, she always bent her back for you. Diane was the light of everyone’s life. She loved to cook, clean, and make Walmart trips even if it was for something so little; ha ha, she could stay in there for dayssss. For instance, in the winter she liked to cook/bake chocolate chip cookies and lasagna from scratch which were her favorites. In the summer her favorite was ice cream and Wildwood beaches. Taking all her grandchildren swimming, even if it was just in the backyard, brought her great pleasure because everyone knew she and grandfather loved seeing their grandchildren making waves with the water. From taking trips to visiting amusement parks and having the time of our lives, she always loved seeing smiles and joy on her loved ones’ faces. Diane is survived by her husband, Thomas Hughes; three daughters, Jacqueline Hughes, Stefanie Hughes, and Diana Hughes; nine grandchildren, Chelsey Hughes, Courtney Hughes, Ariyana Torres, Michael Hughes, Marques Hughes, Alexis Hughes, Alysia Torres, Josiah Torres, and Shawn Hughes; four great-grandchildren, Zaniyah Hughes, Michael Hughes, Jr., Leigh Hughes, and Kamari Hughes; two brothers, Charles and James Layton; and one sister, Mary Layton. Diane was a strong one. No matter the obstacles she always stayed strong and took things head on with a strong fight, just like she did with cancer. She fought with all her might. Diane was extremely strong willed, and she never gave up on anything. She fought until she couldn’t fight anymore. Diane joined her parents Charles and Elsie Layton and sisters Donna Robbins and Debbie Layton in Heaven. Diane was adored, loved and a beautiful person to look up to and will always be missed.
