Lorraine Fountain

Ms. Lorraine Jeanette Fountain, affectionally known as "Raine", was born on September 30, 1939, in Westover, MD to Robert Fountaine and Inez Fountaine. She passed away at Accent Care Hospice in Wilmington, Delaware on Friday, May 23, 2025.

Lorraine received her early education in Somerset County, Maryland. She later studied cosmetology at Howard Career Center and graduated in 1958. She did co-op in various salons while at Howard. After graduating she worked as a teacher at Northeast School for two years. She retired from Union Baptist Day Care Center after providing care to children for 20 years. Shortly afterwards she began working at Foulk Manor North with seniors. She did that for another 20 years before finally retiring in 2018.

Lorraine loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She spent her pastimes going to Cowtown, running her monthly errands and sitting on the porch conversating with her neighbors and the people that passed by. She enjoyed a good sub from Casapulla's Elsmere and chicken fries from Burger King, but she loved her some chicken and dumplings!

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Inez Fountaine, 2 sons, William "Bootman" Rolley, Jr. and Robert Fountain; 3 sisters: Inez Boyd, Daisey Robinson and Agnes Horsey; 2 brothers: Robert Fountaine and Herbert Fountaine and 2 brothers-in-law: Corbin Robinson and Garfield Stallings.

Lorraine is survived by three children: Kim Fountain, Garland Fountain and Retta Fontaine; one sister: Della Stallings; one sister-in-law: Joanne Davis Henry; one brother in-law: Haywood Boyd; nine grandchildren: Michelle J. Williams, Michael Fountain, Maurice Williams, Tiffany Williams, Terrance Williams, Keevis Fountain, Robert Fountaine, Celicia Fontaine and Kayla Fountaine; sixteen great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; three goddaughters: Tracy Jenkins, Carolyn Hubbard and Carolyn Trawick; and a host of relatives and friends.
