Born to Andrew and Liza Johnson on Dec. 2, 1917 in Danville, VA. She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Deshields, and son, James B. Deshields, two devoted companions, Sylvia Moses and Nancy Briscoe. Mrs. Deshields is survived by four children, Grandville A., Vanessa Morgan, Latrice and Emmanual Deshields, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
