Robert Lee Coleman Jr. was a man defined by his devotion to family, his enduring love, and his zest for life. He was called home to rest, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, cherished values, and a spirit that will forever walk beside those he loved.
A Life Well-Lived
Robert was a proud graduate of Maggie L. Walker High School in Richmond, Virginia, where he served as a member of the Cadet Corps. He was a passionate fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, and his love for music was deeply rooted in the soulful sounds of Mahalia Jackson and the classic melodies of Billy Stewart, especially "Sitting in the Park."
Perhaps his greatest achievement was his enduring love story. Robert met his beloved wife, Lillian Coleman, when they were just 14 and 12 years old, respectively. Their beautiful union spanned an incredible 69 years, marked by deep devotion and the many poems he lovingly wrote for her.
Family and Loved Ones
Robert now joins those who preceded him in death his Father, Melba White, Mother Cornelia White, Grandmother, Ms. Georgianna Taylor; Brother, Garland Coleman; Aunts, Ruby and Ruth Taylor; Uncle, James Taylor; Favorite Cousin, Martha Mason, Oldest Son; Ronald Lee Coleman; Son-In-Law, Tom Davis.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Lillian Coleman; children, Rodney Coleman (Jennifer), Stephanie Davis, Roger Coleman (Patricia), Shari Johnson-Coleman (Eric); Angelia Vaughn (Stacy) grandchildren, Eric Johnson, Jr., Druce Lee Johnson, Vanessi Denise Johnson, Jason Vaughan, Sr., Arquistta Vaughan, and a host of great-grandchildren who will carry his memory forward. He also leaves to cherish his memories friends, Ruth Drummond-Parson and Travis Parson
A Final Note
Robert often reminded his loved ones not to say "goodbye," but rather, "see you later." Though he has been called home, his influence remains. We carry his stories, his values, and his laughter with us always. He lived a beautiful life, loved deeply, and showed us what it means to be a true husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend. Rest in peace, Robert. Your spirit lives on, and we look forward to the day we shall meet again.
