" Rainford “Sheck” Wright was born on June 15, 1963, in Peterville, Westmoreland, Jamaica, to Enoch and Winnie Wright. He departed this life on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Wilmington Hospital.
Sheck received his early education at Peterville High School and was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Peterville, Westmoreland. After completing high school, he began working alongside his older brother, cooking for various events throughout the parish. He later relocated to Kingston, Jamaica, where he resided for a period of time.
Throughout most of his life, Sheck was self-employed and widely recognized for his many talents. Among these, his passion for cooking stood out the most. After returning to Westmoreland, he established his own restaurant and bar in the tourist area of Bluefields Beach. There, he became known not only for his flavorful meals but also for his warm, engaging, and adaptable personality, which left a lasting impression on all who visited. Over the years, he built a strong reputation for both himself and his establishment.
Although his business was thriving, Sheck was always driven by opportunity and growth. When the chance to move to the United States arose, he made the difficult decision to leave his business and temporarily part from his family to pursue new opportunities for their future
.Once in the United States, Sheck embraced every opportunity that came his way. Known as a “jack of all trades,” he found success in various fields and continued to build meaningful connections wherever he went. After several years, his family joined him, and in 2005, he married his beloved wife, Grace “Patsy” Getters-Wright. With the support of his wife, Sheck worked as a truck driver where he owned his own tractor trailer for a number of years, performed automotive work both independently and with various shops, and continued cooking for those who sought his services.
Those who knew Sheck knew they could always rely on him—whether it was to fix a car, prepare a delicious meal, or lend a helping hand. And if he couldn’t assist directly, he would always find someone who could. Though much of his life was spent working tirelessly to provide and build a better future, Sheck lived a full and meaningful life—rich with unique experiences, deep love for family and friends, and a culinary gift that brought joy to many.
Sheck was preceded in death by his parents, Enoch and Winnie Wright, and his brothers, Titus Wright, Otis Wright, and Lovelle “Dread” Wright.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Grace “Patsy” Getters-Wright; his children: Crystal Morgan and her child, Vanessa Wright and her children, Janelle Wright, Shanique Wright, Azhani Wright, and Leiah Wright. He is also survived by his sisters, Melody Jones, Jasmine Watson, Merlyn Wright, and Janet Wright; his brothers, Balvin “Paul” Wright, Franklin Wright, Dennis Wright, and Val Wright; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and many dear friends.Sheck’s legacy of hard work, generosity, and vibrant spirit will live on in all who knew and loved him.
