Rachelle Alane Grimes

Rachelle (Shelly) was born August 20th 1959 in Albany, New York to Richard Grimes and Kathleen McAlphin. She passed away February 28th, 2026 in Wilmington, DE.

Shelly received her education in the Albany City School District. She worked many different jobs in Albany before moving to Wilmington, DE, where she lived for over 25 years. There, she served as Resident Council Vice President and then president for many years. She also served on the board of commissioners for many years. She was a partner with the Charity Crossings community program. She enjoyed playing bingo, cards and serving her community.

Shelly was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Myrtle Perry.

Shelly is survived by one daughter Centrial Jackson (Sir Howard). 2 grandchildren Jasir and True. Loving companion and significant other, Mr. Leroy Coleman. Siblings: Richard A. Grimes Jr., Victoria Grimes, David Grimes, Gary Grimes, Hannah Johnson, Robert Hume’s, Lisa Grimes, Rodney Grimes, Elmer Grimes and Yulanda Freeman, best friend/sister Barbara Parker; godchildren I-Meek Grimes and Junay Spence; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Shelly was loved by many and the world lost one beautiful soul.
