Spirited, gracious, competent and independent, Pamela was loved by her expansive and caring circle of friends and those whose lives she touched. A compact bundle of energetic determination, Pamela knew what she wanted, where she wanted to be and who she was.
Pamela was born in Wilmington, Delaware and lived most of her life in Centreville, as an active community member, outdoor enthusiast, gracious hostess, real estate associate and dog lover.
Energetic and self-reliant, Pamela loved being with her dogs, most recently “Yogi” walking in the woods and fields surrounding her home. She was a real estate associate for more than 40 years, first as an agent in her family’s Witsil Real Estate firm, later as a broker with her brother Steven, and more recently as a respected member of Monument Sotheby's International Realty in Centreville.
Pamela was loved and respected as a powerhouse who never stood still.
A lifetime member of Greenville Country Club and an active athlete, Pamela enjoyed swimming, tennis and cycling. She sailed on the Chesapeake in her family-owned Ensign, competed in triathlons and explored Caribbean reefs as a certified scuba diver. As a youth, Pam and her young friends roamed the hills surrounding the Brandywine on foot and horseback. Her interest in horses evolved full circle from showing to working with world renowned Olympic equestrian, George Morris, on Florida winter circuits. Her roamings grew to travels and stints in Colorado, the Mediterranean, Australia, Eastern Europe, the Caribbean Islands, and the Western US.
Pamela loved to entertain with simple elegance and sparkle. While she enjoyed creating memorable experiences for others, she thrived on being alone in her lovely home and gardening with her pups.
Pamela graduated from Greenville Elementary (now Stonegates) A.I Dupont High School, and attended Mills College in NY. She served on the Centreville Civic Association and on the Real Estate Board of DE. Pamela is predeceased by her parents, Robert V. Witsil and Jean G. Witsil, and survived by her brothers Robert and Steven, sister Ann, several nieces and nephews, dear friends and her soulmate “Yogi”.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, May 22nd, 4:00pm at the Greenville Country Club. In lieu of flowers, please consider gifts in her memory to: 4OceanFoundation.org, the American Cancer Society and the Centreville Civic Association.
