Noreen B. Maddox-Johnson

September 14, 1959 — February 5, 2022

Devoted Mother, Wife, Believer, and Caregiver
Noreen Maddox-Johnson, 62 was called home to our Lord on Saturday, February 5, 2022. She was born on September 14, 1959, in Wilmington, Delaware to William "Dutch" Burton and Mary Lindo. In 1977 she graduated from Wilmington High School.

Noreen married Keith William Johnson on July 13, 1996, and they enjoyed 25 years of marriage. She worked at Dart First State Transportation, the City of Wilmington Department of Parks and Recreation, and The Christiana School District for 20 years, where she retired as a Paraprofessional.

Noreen was an active member of Bethel AME Church serving in multiple capacities, including The Bethel Voices of Light, Marriage Ministry and working in Bethel's front office. In her free time, she enjoyed volunteering with different church ministries, being a traveling AAU mom for her son's basketball team, perusing Facebook, dining at her favorite restaurants with her husband and spending time with her granddaughter, Jhamya.

Noreen will especially be remembered for her service to God and church. She was a mother to many that crossed her path that needed understanding and a helping hand. Noreen accepted and embraced them as her own and with her husband, Keith opened her home to many. Noreen loved to travel, had a fiery spirit, was very encouraging but blunt, loved to have a good time, was the life of the party and would always bring her signature potato salad! She took pride in her appearance and was always sharp/fly. She enjoyed shopping for outfits, jewelry, pocketbooks, and perfume. She would give you her last and despite her circumstances, she was a prayer warrior who showed immeasurable strength, loved God's people, and had the heart of a true worshipper.

Noreen is survived by her husband Keith Johnson; children Brandon Maddox, Jamal Maddox, and Javayon Johnson; grandchild Jhamya Maddox; brother Richard Cephas; 8 nephews, 2 nieces and friends.
