Margaret Earp was born on August 24, 1940, in Portsmouth, Virginia, to the late Nettie and Leroy Smith. She was the second oldest of six children and spent her early years in Virginia alongside her siblings, building the strong family values that would guide her throughout her life.

Margaret peacefully departed this life on June 5, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nettie, and Leroy Smith; her beloved husband, Gus Earp; and her brother, Thomas Smith.

Later in life, Margaret relocated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she met and married Gus Earp. Their union was blessed with a daughter, Crystal, who was the center of Margaret's world. She was a devoted mother whose love, support, and guidance were evident in all she did.

Margaret worked in Food Services at Metropolitan Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic.

Margaret enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She especially loved visiting casinos, playing scratch-off games, and participating in Bingo. Her greatest joy, however, came from being surrounded by family during holidays and special occasions. Whether gathered around the table sharing a meal or enjoying spirited board games, Margaret treasured every moment spent with her loved ones. She will be remembered for her strength, generosity, resilience, and unwavering devotion to her family.

Margaret leaves to cherish her memory of her beloved daughter, Crystal Earp of Pennsylvania; her sisters, Jacqueline Hargrove of the Bronx, New York, Mildred Smith of Newark, Delaware, and Mary Burnley of Folsom, Pennsylvania; and her brother, James Smith of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends, all of whom were touched by her kindness and generosity. Her nieces and nephews will fondly remember how she showered them with gifts and affection on birthdays and holidays.

Margaret's legacy of love, strength, and family devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Though she will be deeply missed, the memories she created and the lives she touched will be cherished forever.

"Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure. She was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure."
