Johnnie Moye, Sr., son of the late Charlie P. Moye and Lula Bynum was born on August 24, 1926 in Green County, North Carolina. He departed this life on Saturday, December 30, 2006 in the Veterans Hospital. Johnnie received his education in the Greene County School District in North Carolina. He retired from the Wilmington Finishing Company after thirty years of service. Johnnie served his country in the United States Army 1929th Engineer Aviation Company as a Military Guard Patrolman. He received the Asiatic-Pacific Service Ribbon, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal.
