James Delano Hill born June 7, 1978, in Wilmington, Delaware to Stephanie Hill and James Alderman. He transitioned on Friday, June 12, 2026, at Christiana Care.

James was a 1997 graduate of Wilmington High School (Red Devils). James had several jobs, some being at the Salvation Army, and a being Flagger. His most recent place of employment was Parkview Nursing Home.

James was raised in church as a young child. He was a member of Church of Deliverance under Bishop S.L Jones, Highway of Holiness under his grandmother Elder Essie L. Alderman, and Temple United Church under Apostle J.T Graham, and he sung on the youth choir.

In high school, James played football for four years. He also loved to bowl, cook, and hang out with his friends. James loved his family; he had a special love for his nieces and nephews. His son Jakai was the apple of his eye. He was so proud when his son graduated from high school in 2025. He even shed some tears. He was a fan of the Detroit Lions.

James was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Nancy L. Hill, and his sister, Myeshia (Muffy) Triplett.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his one and only son Jakai Ari Hill, parents, Stephanie Hill and James W. Alderman, siblings, James Miller (Kina), Steven L. Hill, Sr., and one sister Shanese L. Hill, paternal Grandmother, Pastor Essie Lee Alderman, aunts, Florence L. Lewis, Nancy L. Jenkins, Christine Crosby, and Renee Alderman, two uncles David Hill, and Corey Sullivan, five nieces, Zion Waters, Jayla Hill, Ta’Lia Hill, Morgan Hill, McKenzie Shingler, nephews, Tyree Miller, Steven Hill, Jr., KyLean Hill, Malik Triplett, Tracy Kelly, and Zechariah Waters, one great niece, Zylee Reynolds, great nephews, Zae’lon Reynolds, sister in laws, Kina Miller and Minka Hill, and special cousins, Jackie Crosby, Derrick Crosby, and David Crosby, and a host of other family and friends.

James will truly be missed by all who knew him and was in his life. The smiles, and the jokes he told, and how much he loved his people.
