Jackie A. Baldwin was born on December 9, 1958, in Elizabethtown, North Carolina, to Lonnie and Mae Netta Baldwin. She was raised in Jamaica, Queens, New York. As the eldest of five children, Jackie experienced the loss of her mother at a young age, a circumstance that required her to grow up quickly. Affectionately known as “Jack,” she took on a leading role in helping care for the household and her four younger siblings. She was a responsible, caring, and hardworking person with an exceptional work ethic—one she often credited to her father for instilling in her.

Jackie was academically gifted from an early age. To accommodate her advanced learning needs, she was bused to schools outside of her neighborhood, where she was often among a demographic minority. She graduated from Jamaica High School in Queens, New York, and began her professional career as a Key Punch Operator and Data Entry Clerk. She later worked for Ford Credit for many years.

On October 13, 1973, Jackie was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses alongside her father. For over 52 years, she faithfully and zealously served her God, Jehovah. Her faith was a source of strength not only to herself but also to those around her. Through her encouraging presence and uplifting use of the Scriptures, she brought comfort to many. One of her favorite verses was Isaiah 30:15, which she often shared with those facing difficult circumstances: “Your strength will be in keeping calm and showing trust.”

In 1993, Jackie and her beloved daughter, Aiyana, courageously embarked on a new adventure and chapter in life, moving from New York to Tampa, Florida. Jackie loved her daughter deeply and treasured every moment of raising her. She was fiercely protective and took great pride in raising Aiyana to be an intelligent, independent, and capable young woman. Jackie affectionately referred to Aiyana’s birthday as their “anniversary,” marking the day they officially met in person—a memory she cherished throughout her life.

In 2009, Jackie moved to Delaware and became part of the Nottingham Congregation , where she was warmly welcomed and dearly loved. She quickly became an integral part of her Christian family. Jackie cherished the many relationships she formed within the congregation and made it a priority to cultivate and nurture those friendships.

A forward thinker with a natural entrepreneurial spirit, Jackie developed an interest in computers long before they became commonplace in everyday life. While living in Delaware, she launched her own business as a Medicare advisor, helping hundreds of individuals navigate and access their healthcare benefits. Through her work, she not only served her clients with excellence but also formed countless lasting friendships. Those who knew her professionally and personally alike remember her as exceptionally kind, knowledgeable, and always willing to help. Jackie was a woman of her word. If she said that she was going to do something or attend an event, she placed high value on doing exactly as she said she would, a trait that her clients especially appreciated about her. All who knew her loved her.

Jackie loved traveling and exploring different cultures and languages. She had the opportunity to visit many beautiful places, including Italy, France, Japan, Monaco, Barbados, Mexico, and numerous destinations throughout the United States. Gratefully, she recently enjoyed a trip to Mexico with loved ones — adding to the memories that we will cherish forever as we look forward to traveling with her again in Paradise.

Jackie also thouroughly enjoyed an exciting sports game, And she had a deep appreciation for the arts in all their forms, including music, film, literature, and painting. She especially enjoyed smooth jazz and admired the works of Vincent van Gogh, particularly The Starry Night and Sunflowers. Sunflowers were her favorite flower, and she would often say, “I just love their little brown faces turned to the sun.” Jackie's nurturing nature is reflected in the beautiful plants that she surrounded herself with in her home. She also deeply loved the ocean and the beach, finding peace and joy in being near the water. She was often drawn to places where she could watch the waves roll in and feel the calm and beauty of creation. Jackie marveled at a beautiful sunset or a large, full moon as if seeing such a beauty for the first time each time.

There will never be enough words to fully capture Jackie’s beautiful spirit or the profound impact she had on the lives of those around her. Attempting to summarize her life in a few pages is impossible and vastly falls short of conveying the remarkable woman she was. Her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering faith left an indelible mark on everyone privileged to know her. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a rich, infectious laugh that could light up any room and linger in your memory.

Our dear Jackie leaves behind to cherish her memory: her beloved daughter, Aiyana Lucas; her uncle, Lenward Baldwin; her aunt, Magdalene Mitchell ; her sisters, Bobbie Solomon, Sharon Moore (husband, Collin Moore), and Brenda Baldwin; and her brother, Gregory Baldwin (wife, Kim Baldwin).
