Howard Ernest Burton was born on February 4,1940 and passed away on May 17, 2020 at the age of 80. He is predeceased by his mother and father, Edward and Cora Burton, and several sisters and brothers.
Between his birth in Barco, NC and his interment in Calverton National Cemetery in NY, he served his country in the Navy - in the highly-skilled job of Fire Control Technician- travelled the world, held several technical certifications, and was discharged with the Good Conduct Medal, 1st award. He then went on to become a tour supervisor in the US Postal Service.
One of his greatest achievements is that he lived to see his children and a grandchild graduate from college because he was born into a world with limited options for black men.
His sense of humor, intelligence, and unwavering belief in the those who knew him and loved him, will be missed.
Howard is survived by his wife, Katherine Burton, his sister, Golethia Smith, and his children, Cassandra, Kimberly, Katrina (Matthew) and Jada. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Quinton, Amanda, Kaya, Toryn and Liya. May his memory be a blessing
