Life Story
Eugene H. Butler Jr., was born on December 20, 1961, in Wilmington, Delaware, to Victoria Butler-Wilson and Eugene H. Butler Sr. Tragically, he passed away unexpectedly on April 19, 2026, at his home in New Castle, Delaware. His absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him.
Eugene, affectionately known as “Gene” or “Junior” by his mother, received his early education in the colonial school district and graduated from William Penn High School in 1980. After high school, he worked at Domino’s and later retired from Roller Services Corporation after an impressive 31 years of service.
Gene had a wide range of hobbies and interests. He was passionate about singing, fishing with family and friends, sitting outdoors with his friends and family enjoying beverages, biking, and cooking. He cherished spending time with his family and enjoyed watching his nieces and nephews have fun. Gene was also known for his impeccable sense of style and never wore the same suit more than three times. In fact, he even taught his younger brother, Robert, how to dress!
Gene was preceded in death by his father, Eugene H. Butler Sr., his bonus father Garry A. Wilson, his brother-in-law Leroy Hubbard, his uncle Charles Driver, and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Gene is survived by his siblings Barbara Hubbard (Leroy), Gwendolyn Butler, Robert Butler (Delores), Troy Pritchett (Sabrina), Eugene Butler the 3rd, Melissa “Missy” Snow, Charles Walton (Vicky) and his longtime best friend Lee Luster. He is also survived by eight nieces, four nephews, five great nieces, ten great nephews, and numerous cousins and friends.
Though Gene is no longer with us, his love, laughter, and cherished memories will forever reside in our hearts. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to guide and inspire us always.
