Eufemiano Antonio DeSouza of Newark, Delaware went home to the lord on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at the age of 76. He was born in Ambeya, Tanzania on July 12, 1949. The son of the late Anthony Joseph DeSouza, and Querobina Maria DeSouza. His brothers Lino Desouza, and Matthew Desouza survive him.
Affectionately known as "Effie" to his family and friends, he was a graduate of high school in Saint Xavier Dar-Es-Salaam, class of 1967. He then attended Karnataka University of Belgaum, India graduating in 1972. He worked as a Data Analyst for 40 years in the operations department at CitiGroup.
Effie was a devout catholic, deep in prayer, he prayed the rosary consistently and prayed to the saints. Not only did Effie out in much devotion to the lord, he served the community through his physical efforts as well. Effie would perform landscaping around flower beds, murals, and statues at Holy Family Church in Newark, Delaware, and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Bear, Delaware.
Besides his faith, he enjoyed raising his two children after accepting a transfer from CitiGroup to transfer from Wall Street, to Newark, DE. He later purchased a home in Salem Woods in Newark, DE.
One of Effie's greatest enjoyments has been playing the guitar. Besides the guitar playing, he had a variety of other hobbies such as his daily walks, painting beautiful portraits, computer building, and working on home improvements. He was a great handyman.
Effie is survived by his daughter, Jasmine Desouza, son, Sean Desouza (Kierra Johnson-DeSouza), grandsons, Isaac Dennis, and Giovanni Osiris Desouza, his wife Bernadette Fatima DeSouza passed away in 2003.
