Esmina Eulalee Roberts

March 14, 1937 — March 7, 2023

Esmina Eulalee Roberts, affectionately known as Mum, Mummy, Granny, and Ms. Lou, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2023, with the love and support of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren by her side.

Mum was born on March 14,1937 in Kingston, Jamaica to Emanuel and Alice Francis. She attended Greenwich All Age School in Kingston. Mum was the Matriarch of our family, who was strong and hard working. She would have done anything to provide for her family! She sold fresh seafood to local markets, supermarkets, and produce to the locals in her community. She enjoyed gardening, walking, cooking, shopping, watching Western movies, and listening to her favorite Indian music.

In 1987, Mum migrated to the United States to pave a pathway of possibilities for her family. She spent quality time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. For a short time, she worked as a daycare provider where she loved and cared for many children before retiring. Mum’s heart was always in Jamaica where she frequently visited, especially in the winter.

She was honest, blunt, protective and never afraid to say what’s on her mind, but her love for her family was unconditional. As we reminisce, we will dip our bread and butter in coffee and drink Pepsi in her memory. Her legacy will forever live on in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mum was preceded in death by her husbands, Henry Williams and Adolphus Roberts, two brothers Rudolph and Harold Francis, son-in-law Michael Bhagloo, and grandson Damien Williams.

Cherished memories linger in the hearts of her children: Raphael Williams (Linnie), Patricia Balkaran (Peter), Evelyn Bhagloo, Rosemarie Anderson, Oneil Williams (Carol), Wadekar Williams (Anita), and Sharmila Johnson (Robbie); brother Derrick Francis; 25 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
