Darlene Douglas was born on August 10, 1956 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Theresa and Charles Douglas. She passed away peacefully on October 28, 2025 at Aventura At Pembrook in West Chester, PA.
Darlene began her early education at Howard, where she attended school until the 11th grade. She decided to leave school to begin working and helping others - a decision that reflected her lifelong dedication to caring for people. Over the years, she worked faithfully in housekeeping, first in hotels and later cleaning homes, earning the love and respect of her clients and community. Her strong work ethic, kindness, and laughter touched the hearts of everyone she encountered.
A woman of deep faith and compassion, Darlene was a devoted member of Ezion Mt. Carmel Church. She loved praising God, spending time in fellowship, and sharing joy wherever she went. Darlene found happiness in the simple things - watching her favorite TV shows, listening to music, dancing and attending family gatherings and community events. Her smile, sense of humor, and caring spirit could brighten any room.
Family meant everything to Darlene, She loved being surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and the many relatives and friends who filled her life with joy. Her home was always open, her heart always full, and she made everyone feel like family.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, Theresa and Charles Douglas; her step father, William Miller; her spouse, Cecil Watson; her sisters, Levern Douglas and Brenda Ledbetter; and her brothers, Lloyd and Charles Douglas. She is also reunited in peace with her grandson, Dacquan Watson, and her beloved aunts- Shirley Riddick, Ivory Brinson, Gloria Dawkins, Helen and Rose Butler as well as her goddaughter Katrina Ledbetter.
Darlene is survived by her sons Demetrus Douglas Sr.(Rasheeda), Charles Watson(Shanda); Her daughter Sunshine Watson; Her brother Stephen Douglas Sr.; Her sister Paulette Tripp; Step sisters Robin Owens and Shakeda Johbnson; and her grandchildren Demetrus Jr and Ke’dre Douglas, Juanesha Miles, Daviona Watson,Jacquan Baynard; Dameer Watson-Barber; Stacy Mills; Rashaun Smith; Savaun Powell and Jaidyn Smith. Her great - grandchildren Aryian Parker Jr; JyAir Watson-Money; Khaza and Legacy Douglas. Her aunt Barbara Wallace; special friends Clarence Mangum and Charlotte Demby, along with a host of relatives and friends.
