The Journey of Danny Mitchell Woods

Danny Mitchell Woods was born on July 23, 1948 in Kingston, TN to Leander & Mae Katherine
Woods. Danny passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at home; in Newark,
 Delaware.

Danny received his education from the Roane County School System in Tennessee. After
school, he served time in the United States Air Force. It was during his time in the Air Force
that he had the opportunity to travel throughout Europe.

After the military, Danny worked for the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), as well as, the
Yellow Creek Nuclear Power Plant (Corinth, MS). After a brief time at DuPont, Danny went on
to own & operate his General Contracting Business; Empire Construction & Development.
Danny is preceded in death by his father Leander E. Woods, Sr., his mother Mae Katherine
Woods & his son Isaiah Talley Woods.

Danny is survived by his daughter Cicely Nicole and his grandsons: Corey Donae' & Jayden
Christopher. He is also survived by his brothers Leander E. Woods, Sr. (Brenda) of Irvine, CA.
& Larry Woods (Joyce) of Kingston, TN, as well as, his sister Marylin Woods of Kingston, TN.
Danny also leaves behind is nephews: Byron, Steven, Kevin & Jason, as well as, his only niece
Stephanie. Lastly, Danny is also survived by his devoted friend of 20+ years Shirley Wilson, as
well as, longtime friend Sharon Brown.

Danny was known for his larger than life personality, his cool walk, his confidence & the way he
commanded the room. But, he was best known for "throwin' down" in the kitchen; especially
on the grill. Danny's favorite cuisine was Southwest which he mastered during his time in
Houston, TX. Whenever his grandson Corey put in his request for Chitlins he would make sure
he had at least 10 pounds & a bottle of hot sauce ready for him. Other dishes he enjoyed
cooking were Fried Corn, Chicken Marsala, Venison; which also proved that there wasn't
 anything he could not master.

In addition to cooking, Danny also enjoyed his corvettes, fishing, gardening, maintaining his
vinyl collection & spending time with his daughter & grandsons whenever possible. He took
pride in teaching his daughter her way around car repairs & construction sites. He would also
would say his father never allowed his brothers to put their cars in the shop & they would have
to repair their cars themselves. He took pride that his daughter knew her way around cars.
Danny was a jack of all trades & if you liked food & music Danny was your friend for life.
His energy was undeniable & he will be missed; his energy & spirit will live on.

Danny's final wish was to go home.
