Clayton retired from the Red Clay School District. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Clara and Lawrence Snowden. He is survived 2 sons, Byrhen and Ibe Lyles; daughter, Nyree Carter; companion, Nadine Carter; 2 siblings, Brice and Eunice Snowden; 5 granddchildren; and godbrother, Johnny (Smithy) Smith.
