Charles Lawler Rogers Jr. was born on December 30, 1970 in Richmond, Virginia and adopted by Barbara B. Rogers and C. Lawler Rogers, Sr. He passed on February 1, 2023 at his home in Newark, Delaware.
Lawler and his parents lived in the Four Seasons development in his younger years where he made lasting relationships and developed a brotherhood with Marcus Ellis and Curt Henry.
Lawler received his early education from Christina School District, later graduating from Glasgow High School in 1988 where he was a member of the jazz band and played basketball and football. Lawler was extremely popular and held a lasting relationship with his friends from G High, where he met his best friend/bonus sister, Tykisha Stanford, the two continued to experience lifelong milestones together. Lawler met Greer Wibican and from that union had Alicia. Lawler attended North Carolina Central University, in Durham, North Carolina, where he was a member of the Central University Sound Machine Marching Band playing the trumpet. He made many lasting relationships with people he befriended while being a student on Central’s campus. Lawler graduated with a degree in Business and a concentration in Finance.
In his early years, he was a car salesman. After college, he and his brother Marcus Ellis started Two Brothers Towing Company in New Castle, Delaware. Lawler married Stephanie Rogers in 2000 and from this union they had three children, Trey, Chloe and DeCarlo. He worked as a Stockbroker at Morgan Stanley in Greenville, Delaware. He continued his love of sales and moved into the pharmaceutical field as a District Manager at Warner Chilcott where he was employed for 10 years. He was most recently employed as Regional Sales Manager at Smith + Nephew.
Lawler had many hobbies and interests. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, golf and music. Lawler was a talented dog handler and for many years bred award winning American Pit Bull Terriers. His most accomplished dog, “Tigger” was recognized as a National Grand Champion in the dog showing circuit. Amongst his relationship within the dog community, he developed a lifelong friend in Deandre Brooks.
Everyone who knew Lawler knew his love of the Philadelphia Eagles. Many remember celebrating football gatherings on Delancy Road in the Boogie Down Lounge. Countless people will never forget the memory of Lawler on the sidelines of the volleyball court, basketball court, and football field cheering on his children and their teammates. He was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Wilmington Alumni Chapter. Lawler was also a Charter Member of the Men of Azul along with Chad Jones, Mark Haughton, Kyle Myers and Stephen Wing.
Lawler was preceded in death by his father, C. Lawler Rogers, Sr. He is survived by his mother Barbara B. Rogers and his children Alicia Marie Thomas, Charles Lawler Rogers III, Chloe Laurelle Rogers, and Stefan DeCarlo Rogers. He has a host of other relatives including James Mitchell and best friend and bonus sister, Tykisha Stanford.
