Charlene Artie Winchester was born on November 6, 1956 to the late LeGrand H. Taylor and the late Alyce (Coleman) Taylor in Salem Memorial Hospital in Salem, NJ.
Charlene departed this life on Wednesday April 23, 2025 at Christiana Care Wilmington Hospital under the care of Accent Care Hospice at the age of 68.
Charlene was a graduate of Woodstown High School Class of 1975. She was employed by Lassonde Pappas, and later employed byTop Quality Baking where she retired in October 2023.
Charlene was united in Holy Matrimony to Lance Winchester in 1992. From this union they were blessed with two children Shawn Taylor and Christian Winchester.
Charlene joined Mt. Laurel A.M.E. Church under the pastorate of Rev. Lynda T. Rassmann where she was an active member. She served as a Trustee and a member of the Gospel Choir where she served as President.
Charlene loved cooking, baking, crocheting, watching her favorite Classic TV movies, and Disney TV shows, she also loved doing crossword puzzles,
Charlene was predeceased by her father and mother, LeGrand H.Taylor, and Alyce C. Taylor, and her brother Rodney C. Taylor, Sr., and her beloved mother-in-law Mildred Bailey-Winchester.
Charlene leaves to mourn her best friend and loving husband, Lance H. Winchester, her son Shawn B. Taylor (Balinda) of Wilmington, DE; her daughter Christian Winchester of New Castle DE, and her granddaughter her pride and joy, Aurora J. Mosher.
Charlene also leaves 4 brothers, Gary L (Ann) of Laurel Springs, NJ, Allen H of Sewell, NJ, Curtis E of Salem, NJ, and Michael G (Patricia) of Pilesgrove, NJ; 3 sisters, Barbara Russum (James, Jr.) of Columbus, GA, Joylette Jackson (Justin Jr.) of Lindenwold, NJ, and Alicia Robinson (Keith, Sr.) of Pedricktown, NJ; 1 sister-in-law Rose Marie Taylor of Clayton, NC, and her aunt Beatrice Coleman of Virginia, and one godchild Riley Veney. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives, and many friends.
One of Charlene’s solos when she sang in the Gospel Choir was “It’s A Mighty Good Day”.
Charlene was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be missed by all.
