Audrey R. Amos

Audrey R. Amos “Mom Audrey” was born April 6, 1934 in Wilmington Delaware to the late Naomiand James Cephas. She entered rest on August 22, 2026 at home surrounded by her loving family.

Mom Audrey received her early education from the Wilmington Public School District. She met and married the late Edward Jones and from this union her first two daughters were born. The marriage was dissolved and she later met the love of her life Otis Amos, They married August 15, 1955 and from this union four more children were born. They remained married for 49 years until his death in 2004.

She accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior in 1968 under the guidance of Bishop Clarence Cornish at New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ Jesus in Cambridge Maryland where she served as the church secretary. She dedicated the remainder of her life to faithfully serving God wholeheartedly and unwavering. In the early 1990’s she joined Spirit Life Ministries International where Kenneth E. Gaines is the Pastor. There she served faithfully and tirelessly as an usher and on the mother board.

Throughout her career, she worked in Environmental Services caring for and maintaining the places where she worked. Later she worked as a Childcare Provider at Spirit Life Ministries Early Childhood Educational and Learning Center in Wilmington.

Mom enjoyed traveling, baking, counseling those who needed her pearls of wisdom and crocheting. Everyone reading this has probably received a blanket she made specifically for you. She had many funny one liners and quirky sayings. She loved spending time with her family including her church family. Mom loved everyone deeply and always made sure you knew it.

She was preceded in death by her husband Otis Amos, sons Kevin and Alan Amos, her sisters, Izetta Cephas, Viola Stewart and Naomi Cephas.

She leaves to forever cherish her memory and legacy: daughters Beverly Davis (Lee), Edwina Cornish (Anthony), Lois Johnson (Geoffrey), Felicia Davis (James), brother, Frederick Cephas, and Sister in Law, Barbara Cephas, 17 grandchildren, many many great and great-great grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and church family.
