Wendell Saunders Sr. was born on October 31, 1948 in Gates, NC to the late Charlie
and Liller Vaughn Saunders. He departed this life on Thursday, July 20, 2023.
Wendell “Pops” graduated from Central High School in the class of 1968 in Gates,
NC. Pops worked over 35 years at Tecot/Rumsey Electric in Wilmington, DE, New
Castle, DE and Conshohocken, PA.
Pops was an advocate Eagles fan, he got the chance to watch the Philadelphia Eagles
win their first Super Bowl in 2018. He loved dancing and listening to music. His
favorite artists are Teddy Pendergrass, Toni Braxton, and Bobby Womack.
Pops was preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Liller, his siblings, Claire,
Troy, Charlie Jr, Joseph, and, Willie, Melinda.
Pops is survived by his children: Ronald (Lonnie), Jamir, (Shirley) Wendell
(Jennifer), and Shawn (Kelly), his siblings; Queen, Timothy, Leslie, and Jessie: host of
grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephew, special friend; Eleanor and son
Mike (Amanda), and friends.
