April 15, 1928 — May 14, 2020

Stephen Williams, Sr. age 92, was called home to be with the Lord on May 14, 2020 while
lovingly being cared for by his family. He was born on April 15, 1928 in Coatopa, Alabama to
the late John Henry and Chaney Williams who were farmers. His mother died when he was just
a baby, his father married Ida Garrett who became his new mother. Steve was 1 of 15 siblings.

Stephen attended Zion Hill School and when he turned 18 years old, he moved to Detroit,
Michigan to look for work. Steve began working for Allen Industries making padding for car
seats. He met and began dating Mary Davis that same year. He left Allen Industries in 1952
and began working for Chrysler. Steve and Mary were married soon there after. While still in
Detroit they had a son, William Gene and a daughter, Robin.

Steve transferred to the Chrysler Plant in Wilmington, Delaware in 1957 and relocated his
family there. His family grew having 2 more sons, Gary and Stephen, Jr and a daughter, Tara.

Steve had various job skills to support his family. At night he worked as a pipe fitter at Chrysler
where he retired in 1983 after 31 years of service. He was a licensed barber by trade. He
worked at White's Body Shop as a body and fender repairman from 1969 until 1988.

Steve developed a love for bowling in the late 60's becoming an awesome left-hand bowler! He
also enjoyed making leather crafting and would make wallets and purses for his friends and
family. He enjoyed playing Spades, Pinnocle and Big Wiz.

A faithful usher, he had been a member of Cornerstone Fellowship Baptist Church almost since
the day the doors opened. He looked forward to praising the Lord each and every Sunday!

Willing to help his friends and family whenever they needed him, Steve was a selfless, kind, God
fearing man. Always a strong family man, even after the loss of his wife Mary, Steve was
determined that his family would continue to be as close knit as ever. Pop Pop and Uncle Tee,
as he was affectionately called by his grandchildren and family, can never be replaced.
