Rodney Anthony Patterson

Rodney A. Patterson born on February 17, 1968 to Helen Artis. He departed this earth on August 20,

2023 at 5:04am peacefully.

He began his education in Delaware Public school system.

He was an amazing athlete and stood out in middle and high school. He was a star running back for

Wilmington High School, better known as the “Rook” or “R” for those who was close to him. He graduated

in 1986.

Rodney had some struggles in his life yet, he was most proud of fathering 3 beautiful children, Raheem

West, Essence Hope and Trinity Patterson. He loved and wanted nothing but great things for their lives.

It was a long journey for Rodney to change his life.. But with God and his 12step program his life was being

restored. He Celebrated 7 years clean and serene on February of this year. He was in a posture of

unconditional love for those he loved, and he believed that as his life was getting better, restoration could be

possible for his family.

For the pass 5 years Rodney has been a Member of the International Longshoreman Associations’ 1694, He

was a deep sea Longshoreman. He loved his job and was so proud to be a member.

Rodney was a diehard Steelers fan. He loved Reggae, R& B and Gospel music. That “boy” could sing his

butt off. He enjoy eating out, going to the movies, shopping for clothes and sneakers.

Rodney was proceeded in death by his aunts: Yvonne Ledbetter, and Elaine Gray

He leaves to cherish his memories his mother Helen Artis, his children Raheem West, Essence Hope and

Trinity Patterson, His grandchildren Rahziya West, Jadrian West, Bryson Pulliam and Eden Pulliam. His

maternal uncles David Patterson, Gardell Patterson, Kenneth Patterson, Virgil Patterson, and Aunts Daphne

Bryant and Stephanie Patterson, His devoted unconditional partner Audrey Wilson, his best friend/brother

Shannon Washington and, a host of cousins, family and friends.
