Robert was born in Wilmington, DE on June 8th, 1943. Robert was born again March 2020.

Robert was lovingly known as ‘BROWNIE', ‘DADA',‘POP-POP', ‘BROTHER ROB', ‘SENSEI', AND ‘BROWN SON'.

Robert was co-owner of the Walnut Street Deli (the iconic Black owned No-Pork deli) in Wilmington, where he provided good food and good conversation. Robert enjoyed spending time with family & friends and encouraging people with words of empowerment and wisdom.

Robert was an accomplished martial artist. One of his proudest and most cherished accomplishments was achieving his status of 8th Degree Martial Artist.
Robert was also a master barber. He owned and operated several barber shops in Wilmington.

Robert obtained a GED in February 2006 from Enterprise High School and received an Associate of Applied Science degree in Paralegal Studies from Kaplan University in April of 2008. He loved helping people with their legal issues and used his knowledge of law to assist many people by showing them how to access the legal system and by helping them to obtain a resolution to some of their legal issues.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Edward William Brown and Margaret Bordley Brown; his brother, William W.F. Brown, Jr.; two sisters, Kathryn L. (Kaye), Pearl E. (Betty) Hammond, and daughter, Shira Lynn.

Robert leaves to cherish his memory his wife Shirley Harley Brown; his children Robin (Larry), Fatima, Blondell, Abdul (Dominique), and Juan Victor Valdez; brothers, Milton (Lillian), Foster (Denise); sisters, Anna Belle Matthews (Eugene) and Mary L. Brown; grandsons, Charles, Isaiah, Sharrief, Brandon, Abdul Jr, Gabriel, London, Camron; granddaughters, Brooklynne (Don), Khadijah, Sheniya (Durell), Shaelynne (Elbert), Cy'erra, and Kyla and a host of cousins, nephews and nieces.
