Richard B. Deputy

June 12, 1953 — May 18, 2019

Richard Byard Deputy was born on June 12, 1953 in Harrington, DE to the late Donald and Winona Deputy. On May 18, 2019 the Lord came to his side and carried him home for eternal rest. He was surrounded by his loving family, as the transformation from earth to heaven occurred. Richard received his education through the Delaware Public School System. Upon exiting the Delaware Public School System, he enlisted in the United States Navy. He was stationed in San Diego, CA. He completed one tour of service on the USS Kitty Hawk, CV 63. Richard was no stranger to hard work. He was known to work two jobs at a time to make ends meet. In his early part of his work career, he worked at Pettinaro Construction, and Brand Scaffold. He then worked at Sears Distribution Center, where he was the employee of the month, five times in a row. He later became a manager at Service Master, before transferring his genuine work ethics to the Christina School District. Upon entering the district, he started as a bus driver on bus 581, where all the students loved him. In fact, they loved him so much, thatthey often showered him with gifts just to say thank you. His last job at the time of retirement, was a custodian within the district. Upon retirement his favorite thing to do was to get Tanay back and forth to school, dance, or their sneak trips to purchase junk food. He also enjoyed coaching Malachi and Lauren(Ky) from the sideline during the basketball season. You could spot him yelling at them to fix their mistake or cheering and yelling "I taught them that". Richard loved fishing, traveling, and watching tv for hours on end. He loved black and white western films, In The Heat Of The Night, and Bonanza. You could catch Richard watching his Sunday, and Monday night football in the fall, and his basketball in the winter. He was an avid volunteer at The Sunday Breakfast Mission. He believed and would say "It is important to help those, who helped me when I had nothing". Richard was a long-time member of New Generation Evangelistic Church, where he made it known that he loved his pastor. He helped with all manpower duties within the church, until his health declined. Even when his health declined, he would still push his way to service when he could. Richard will be missed. He was preceded in death by his mother and father: Donald and Winona Deputy, his grandson: Quamere Bowden, and his brother: James Deputy. He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, Eunice Woodard-Deputy, his children: Catrina Bowden, Richard Bowden, JuamikaDeputy, Tiffany Woodard, and Rykia Woodard-Deputy; 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; his sister, Jackie Diarrassouba; one brother in law, Charles Woodard(Charmisha); one sister in law, Karen Hall-Deputy; his best friends, who he called family Charles Lockett, Chauntee Andrews, and Giovanna Andrews; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
