Norman Cooper, Jr. was born on March 5, 1940, in Johnsonville, South Carolina to Hessie & Norman Cooper, Sr. He passed in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loved ones on Sunday, November 21, 2021. 
 
 Norman (aka Coop and Junior) received his early childhood education from the Wilmington public school system. After school he worked at Shopper's Fair and the Wilmington Dry Goods; later retiring from General Motors after 25 years, followed by a second retirement of 25 years with Winterthur Museum. 
 
 For more than 40 years, Norman was a faithful member of Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, in which he dedicated his service as a Deacon for more than 3 decades. He had many hobbies and interest, but his favorite pass times were worshiping the Lord, gardening, fishing, spending time with family and he loved a to get out on the grille. 
 
 Norman was preceded in death by his father, Norman Cooper, Sr; mother, Hessie Cooper; 4 brothers: Willy Cooper, Samuel Cooper, Daniel Cooper and Jerome Mitchell; 1 sister: Ruby Young; his daughter, Wendy Crawford; and son, Darryl Cooper. 
 
 Norman is survived by his wife of over 40 years: Jeraldine Cooper, his daughters, Regina (Clifton) Carr and Kathy Murray; Sons: Norman Cooper, III; Arnold (Faith) Cooper, Donald Cooper, Sr., Howard (Shonie) Craighead, and Dondi (Maria) Craighead; his sister, Ruth Tilghman, God-Daughter: Latoya Taylor, a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
