Naheem El Shabazz

January 24, 1968 — December 14, 2020

Naheem El Shabazz was born on January 24, 1968 in Wilmington, Delaware to the late Jerilyn Davis and the late Earl S. Foulks and given the name Earl Stevenson Davis. In 1972 Jerilyn married John Marshall who adopted Earl in 1974 and raised him as his own. Even though he was yet a child Earl wanted his last name to be the same as theirs, and it was legally changed to Marshall. Earl attended the public school system in Wilmington, Delaware. He loved playing football and other sports and hanging out with his friends in the neighborhood. Following school he worked at any assortment of jobs. During his life's journey Earl decided to embrace the Islamic religion and changed his name to Naheem El Shabazz. In 1990 he and Sharmin Miller became proud parents to his only child, Aleem Shabazz. Naheem could be found walking around Wilmington carrying clippers, a comb and brush in case someone asked for a fresh cut. Naheem was always willing to lend a helping hand when needed. In his later years Naheem's health started to decline. He participated in several programs and eventually had major surgery. While recuperating at his dad's house follow surgery, he accepted Christ as his Savior and received communion. Naheem was preceded in death by his biological parents, Jerilyn Marshall and Earl S. Foulks. He leaves to cherish his memory his dad, John Marshall (Geneva); his son, Aleem Shabazz; his long-time friend and Aleem's mother, Sharmin Miller; one sister, Angela Johnson (Errol); one brother, Andre' Haston (Sheila); seven aunts, Bonita "Lady Bee" Richardson, Mary Ellen Benson, Patty Benson (James), Trudy Davis, Virginia Doldren, Barbara Marshall and Carolyn Jones (Jeffrey); seven uncles, Francis "Pee Wee" Roy (Carolyn), Brinton "Sahib" (Pamela), Kenneth "Senusi" (Doris), Ronald "Doc", Melvin "Skippy", Robert "Spider", Richard "Freeze"; and a host of other relatives and friends.
