Annette Evelyn Pryor (Curry) was born November 27, 1939, in Memphis, TN to Veona Vaughn
and Frank Scott. She was raised by her grandmother, Lannie Bates, in Memphis, TN and
Momma Rose in Chicago, IL. She departed this life peacefully in her home on August 16, 2022.

Annette Curry was baptized at an early age; she loved the Lord and lived her life by faith. In
1957 she graduated from Melrose High in Memphis, TN. In 1960, while in Chicago, IL she met
and married Jimmie Curry and relocated to Panama City, FL. From this union came 4 children:
Jimmie (Greg), Anthony (Shareef), Tammy and Wayne. In 1965 she relocated from Panama
City, FL to Philadelphia. In 1966, she met Theodore Mordecai and from that relationship was
 born her 5th child, Christopher.

Annette held various occupations which included an Elevator and Switchboard Operator and a
Cashier at Gimbels. However, her most passionate profession was managing the family business,
"IKE's Corner Bar & Lounge located at Stenton Avenue & Narragansett Street in Philadelphia,
PA. She managed this business for over 30-years.

Annette was the matriarch of her family and was well respected by all. She was the mother of all
mothers. Her home & heart was always open to many never expecting anything in return. She
was very passionate and didn't differentiate in her love. Her smile could brighten a dim room,
but she didn't take "ANY MESS" from anybody; especially when it came to her children and
grandchildren! She was a protector, a defender, a present presence, a ride or die friend and
hilarious! Her life reflected being ‘more than a conqueror; she always survived the odds and
kept it real. Whether it was blunt or jokingly, she always told you how it was and how she felt.
"Persistent" would be an understatement because she never took "NO" for an answer when
battling for her family. Whatever the cost or whatever the issue, she would get it done for her
family. She taught her children how to be self-sufficient through her "Exemplar" survival skills.
Annette enjoyed the casino (including frequent trips to Atlantic City), playing cards (Pitty-Pack,
Poker, and Tonk) with friends and making her money (Speak-easy) so she could spend it on her
loved ones. As she got a bit older, she appreciated the simpler things in life. She enjoyed
watching Lifetime movies, the Five O' Clock local news, Family Feud, Court TV, Steve Wilkos
and Maury. She loved Whitney Houston, her cat, Princess and dog, Jim-Jim Dior.

In 2007, Annette found yet another love that changed her life and perspective, it was the
Lord. She joined Ezion Fair Baptist Church and was re-baptized under the leadership of her
son, Rev. Dr. Christopher Curry, and became active in various church's ministries. For ten
consecutive years she would catch SEPTA from Philadelphia to Wilmington, DE train station to
ensure she was in church. When her health would not allow her to travel alone, she was
persistent with getting Tammy to get her to church weekly, which continued until three Sundays
before her transition. As a member of Ezion Fair Baptist Church, she was one of the original
members of the Golden Angels. In 2018, she was elevated to the status of Church Mother at
Ezion Fair Baptist due to her diligence and faithfulness. She was also a faithful participant in the
weekly Thursday night "Zoom" Bible Study. She became close friends and church buddies with
Deacon Tillery (her Deacon), Big Red, Mother Bryant, Reverend Hunt, Reverend Wilson, her
special support and caretaker Missionary Geraldine Stokes and her "Other" son Justen Wright.

Annette was preceded in death by her parents, Veona grandmothers Lannie and
Momma Rose; two children Wayne and Anthony (Shareef); four grandchildren Kevin (Knucks),
Bryant, Zackary and Jimmie; two sisters Louise and Irma; and one brother Sonny.

Annette leaves to cherish her memory: two sons, Jimmie (Greg/Country) and Christopher
(Rosa); two daughters Tammy and Tyesha; fathers of her children, Jimmie Curry and Theodore
Mordecai; Grandchildren Nakita (Ted), Shaun, Kenny (Lynn), Antoine, Tamara, Alisha,
Kamesha, Ashley, Latoya, Tina, Walter, Dia, Michelle, Boo; 24 Great-Grandchildren: Kevin Jr,

Kaden; her uncle Charles from IL.; brother Ernie from SC; three nephews Tony, Andre and
Arnold; favorite nieces Trudie and Dee; a close friend Ms. Brenda; Hairstylist Kim; a host of
relatives, friends, neighbors and church family who will miss her dearly.
A heartfelt thank you to her home health aides who daily cared for her well-being through these
 trying times. Previous Events
