Matthew Jerome Broadnax

Matthew Jerome Broadnax was born on August 10, 1952 to the late Marvin Broadnax, Sr. and Sarah Broadnax-Norwood. He departed this life on Friday, April 9, 2021. Matthew received his early education in the Wilmington Public School System. After high school, he was employed by several companies including AVON, the Radisson Hotel, Chrysler, Christiana Care, and lastly, The Fresh Grocer in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Matthew accepted his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at an early age. He loved reading the Word of God and listening to gospel music, especially his favorite song, "Something About the Name Jesus," by the late great Bishop Rance Allen.Some of Matthew's favorite things to do were watching Sci-Fi movies, gardening, cooking his favorite meals, getting dressed up, and telling people how pretty he was.

On November 19, 1985, Matthew married Joann Pittman-Broadnax in Elkton, Maryland. Matthew was predeceased by his stepfather, Jessie Norwood; and three sisters, Bessy Juanita Sharpe, Judith Broadnax, and Marsha Robinson.
Matthew leaves to cherish his precious memories: His wife, Joann Pittman-Broadnax; four sons, Eric Cheeks (Nicole), Matthew Hendrickson, Mark Hendrickson (Gabrielle), and Matthew J. Broadnax, Jr.; six daughters, Keysha Johnson-Webb (Vernon), Brandi English, Ebony Broadnax, Danielle Walker-Redd, Kawanda Hill, and Amy Hendrickson; six brothers, Marvin Broadnax, Jr., Wilbert Saunders, Ronnie Broadnax, Jessie Daniels, Colbert Robinson, and Jerome Robinson; three sisters, Velma Starling, Roberta Broadnax, and Jacqueline Broadnax; 20 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren whom he loved with every fiber of his being; and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
