Marvalyn Pancita Gaynor

June 17, 1959 — December 19, 2023

Marvalyn (Marva) Poncita Gaynor was born on June 17, 1959 in St. Thomas, Jamaica to

Petrona and Kenute Gaynor.

Marvalyn was known for her kind spirit and animated personality since a child. She

received her early education from Pear Tree River Elementary School and Stokeshall Secondary

School. As an adolescent, she was surrounded by her loving family, and later on was blessed to

have five children of her own. She migrated to the United States in November 1993 to the Bronx,

New York.

While living in New York, Marvalyn was a faithful member of Faith Apostolic Gospel

Temple and worked for the New York Police Department as a school crossing guard for many

years. When she retired in 2019, she moved to Delaware officially. She loved Delaware. She

loved to shop for new things for her home, along with dresses and hats for church. In Delaware,

she was a faithful member of the House of Refuge Ministries COGOP, and attended Bethel

Pentecostal occasionally when she visited New York. Her favorite day of the week was Sundays.

She loved to cook. She loved to talk on the phone and she loved to laugh. Her spirit was

welcoming and she was kind to those she encountered. Her personality was one of a kind. She

loved her family and never failed to express her love regularly.

Unfortunately, in 2022, her health began to decline. Despite the state of her health, she

was a woman of faith and trusted God for healing. She stayed positive and remained strong in

her faith. During times when Marvalyn was hospitalized, she made time, although very sick, to

pray for caregivers, and celebrate her love for God. Those who came into contact with her,

quickly knew she was a Christian woman because of uncompromising attitude towards her

strong faith in Christ.

Unfortunately, on December 19, 2023, she passed away due to illness. Marvalyn was

preceded in death by her parents Petrona and Kenute Gaynor, and her brother Danny Gaynor.

Marvalyn is survived by her five children, Michelle, Morlon, Lotoya, Yanika, and Leroy;

Her sixteen grandchildren, Serayah, Sade, Marcus, Leroy, Kahlia, Nylah, Nia, Noah, Caylee,

Laurence, Laurel, Kelvin, Shay, Shane, Brandon, and Jaiden; Her siblings, Millicent (Madge),

Delzena (Mazie), Beverly (Junie), Oswald (Dowen), Leon (Paul), Marcia (Beenie), and Dalton

(Lennox), along with a host of relatives and friends.

Marvalyn was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, relative and friend. She will be truly

missed and remembered for her fiery personality, contagious laugh and infectious spirit.
