Pastor Louisa Davis Groce passed away peacefully at home on March 1st, 2021. She lived in Philadelphia where she raised her family and then resided in Willingboro, NJ for over 40 years. At age 102, she lived a long fulfilling life. Her incredible career began as a special education teacher with the Philadelphia School District. Upon retiring from the school district, she taught graduate students at Antioch University, Philadelphia Campus. Pastor Groce again retired only to go on to enter the Lutheran Seminary of Philadelphia as their oldest ever seminarian at age 79, becoming an ordained minister at age 81. She then served as pastor of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Jersey City, NJ for the next 10 years. Pastor Groce touched countless lives during her long and distinguished careers. She is survived by a sister and brother, 5 daughters and sons-in-law, 3 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. A memorial service will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to St. Luke Lutheran Church, 2 ML King, Jr. Drive, Willingboro, NJ 08046.
