Joseph Thomas Beauford Jr.

Joe was born on July 6, 1946 in Chester PA to Joseph Thomas Beauford Sr. and Edith Mae Harris Beauford. Joseph departed this earthly life suddenly at home on the evening of September 4, 2023.

He was born and raised in Chester and received his education in the Chester Upland School District. He played baseball, football and was a record breaking track phenom for the Mighty CHS Clippers. Athletics remained a deep love as he played softball and touch football for the Chester Rec League well into his forties.

Joe attended PITT Technical Community College majoring in Electronics prior to enlisting into the U.S. Air Force in 1966.

He was stationed at Patrick Air Force Base in Merritt Island, Florida. He completed his military service at Clark Air Force Base in Manila, Philippines as a

Transportation Specialist during the Vietnam Conflict. He also played football for the Air Force. Joe was honorably discharged in September 1970 and was a faithful Disabled Veteran.

After completing his military obligation, Joe was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for more than 10 years while matriculating at Cheney State College (now University). In 1974 he graduated with a BA Degree in Industrial Arts Technology.

Through the years, Joe taught Industrial Technology at various schools throughout the tri-state area.

Joe and his wife Wanda, the love of his life, were together and married for more than 40 years.

He was an outgoing, gregarious man and a loyal friend. To know Joe was to love him.

Joe was predeceased by his father, mother and beloved sister Carol Powell, beloved niece Dinean Powell, his best friend Billy (Tink) Harmon and his faithful Yellow Labrador Retriever, Boz (Bozwell) Beauford.

Joe leaves to cherish his love and to honor his memory, his loving and devoted wife, Wanda Neal Beauford, daughters Danielle N. Beauford, Jannell Johnson (Curtis) and Tami Faruq (Tahir), special niece Yvette Powell Muchiri, daughter-in-love Rhonda Mayfield, devoted brother Keith Beauford (Deborah), grandchildren, Briyana Strickland, Jordan, Jannae and Christal Johnson. Also, leaving niece Theresa Clements (Charles), nephew Chris Beauford, six great nieces, one great nephew, many cousins, his Brother-In-Law for life Matthew Powell (Amelia), countless devoted life long friends and his special Patrick Air Force Space Base crew, Bobby Wooden, James Mitchell and Greg Cross. And, finally his loyal, ever present side kick and protector to the end, Chocolate Labrador Retriever,“Max”(Maxwell) Beauford.
