James Alfred Carter

James "Jim" Carter departed this life on January 9, 2021 after a long illness at his home. He was born on March 9, 1930 in Philadelphia, PA., to the late Mary Longstreth Carter and Henry Carter. The youngest and longest lasting of seven children. Jim graduated from Bensalem High School in 1950. Following four years in the USAF he spent five years at the Benedictine Monastery in Conception, MO. In 1960 he moved to the San Francisco Bay area and began a long association with Old St. Mary's Church in Chinatown serving Mass and later working as the sacristan. In later years, Jim attended his neighborhood church St.. Boniface, known for its gospel Mass. Jim was a man of faith and character. He will be remembered as a kind and generous man who hosted many holiday dinners for friends with no where else to go. He was preceded in death by his parents and 6 siblings. Jim leaves to cherish his memories, A Family line: Longstreth - Carter- Laster, Mary Helen Washam and Family, Jerry Tolbert and Family, Mary Elizabeth Carter. Holt and Family, George Carter Junior and family, Barry Carter and family, Anthony Carter and family, Julie Carter and family, Owen Laster and family, Lynette Carter Belti, Sheala Belti and family, Agnes, Charlotte and family, Cindy, her sisters and family and a host of great great nieces and nephews family and friends.
