Hubert L. Crump, Jr.

June 19, 1955 — October 19, 2020

Hubert L. Crump Jr., affectionately known as "Lee" was born on June 19, 1955 in Salem, New Jersey to the late Juanita B. Crump and Hubert L. Crump Sr. He entered eternal rest on Monday October 19, 2020 in loving care of Seasons Hospice at Genesis Hillside Center in Wilmington, Delaware. Lee was the second of five siblings.

He received his early childhood education at Rosehill Elementary School and Colwyck Junior High School. He graduated from De La Warr High School in 1974. Upon graduation he attended Cecil County Community College on full basketball scholarship and later transferred to Delaware State College. Lee grew up attending Sunday School at Coleman Memorial United Methodist Church in New Castle. He had many hobbies but what he enjoyed the most was being around his grandchildren, watching and playing sports, especially basketball and occasionally going fishing. Lee was exceedingly popular throughout the community, especially among the ladies. Lee enjoyed all sorts of desserts with his favorites being prune cake and banana pudding prepared by his mother.

Lee held various positions throughout his life beginning as a lifeguard at the Dunleith community pool and later joined the staff of the Wilmington Country Club. In 1984, he began his professional career at the Diamond State Port Corporation (formerly Port of Wilmington) until his retirement in 2018.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Juanita B. Crump and Hubert L. Crump Sr.

He leaves to cherish his memory: two children, Jamar Carter and Juanita " Lee Lee" Crump; four siblings: Ronald L. Crump (Roberta), Benjamin Crump, Octavia Dryden (Kenneth) and Melissa Muhammad (Tracy); four grandchildren, Jaylin Carter, Jamiere Carter, Jaliere Carter, and London Miles; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
