Henry Wilbert Sherrill, Jr.

November 15, 1963 — April 20, 2024

Henry W. Sherrill, Jr. 60 was born on November 15, 1963, in Salem, New Jersey to the

late Henry W. Sherrill, Sr and Lula Mae Sherrill. Henry transitioned peacefully on April

20, 2024, at the State Veteran Home in Salisbury, North Carolina with his family by his

side.


Henry also affectioned known as “Hen Pen” a nickname that was carried down from his

father Henry W. Sherrill, Sr. Henry was a graduate of Salem High School, Class of

1982, where he loved all sports, but he excelled in cross county. 


In 1985 Henry enlisted in the United States Army, where he became a certified sharpshooter, recognized and

awarded a Military Service Medal for Honorable Active Service by the Salem County

Board of Chosen Freeholder, Citation Commendations & Praise from The State of NJ

Senate and General Assembly for his exemplary service & dedication to the US Armed

Services, Certificate of Special Senate & Congressional Recognition for his steadfast,

dedication and unwavering service to his country and the US Army.


Henry was employed by Chrysler Corporation for 13 years where he worked as a Team

Lead in the body shop department, when the facility in Newark, DE downsized Henry

accepted a position with Chrysler Corporation and moved to Belvedere, IL until its plant

closing in 2013.


Henry was preceded in death by his father the late Henry W. Sherrill, Sr., and brothers

Kyle Rich, maternal & paternal grandparents.


Henry leaves to cherish loving memories, his loving & faithful mother Lula M. Sherrill

(Lincolnton NC), 4 children Jamaal Sherrill (Atlanta, GA), Kendall Sherrill (Elkin, MD),

Symone Sherrill (Princeton, NJ), Lany’rah Sherrill (Penns Grove, NJ), 2 sisters Lorrie

Vee Jones (Maynard) and Michele Sherrill both of Lincolnton, NC, God Sister LaRae

Smith (Kevin) of (Port Norris, NJ), brothers Anthony Goldberg and Carl Richmond (Ingo)

both of Newark, DE. 5 grandchildren (Jayvon, Nicholas, LaNilah, Kathleen and Kalani

Sherrill) 2 special nieces Sayyeida Shank and Rashideea (Jones) Watts his

“dishwashers” a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
