Frederick Abner Oliver Clifton

Frederick Oliver Abner "Freddie" Clifton, age 75, the son of the late Frederick Turner and the late Annie Mandie Clifton was born in Wilmington, DE on December 6, 1934. He departed this life on January 12, 2009. Frederick received his early education in the public schools of Wilmington where he graduated from Howard High School in 1952 with honors. He then went to serve his country in 1952 to 1956 in the US Army. He held the middle weight boxing title in the Army for two years and for seven years in Delaware. Frederick then became a longtime employee of American Van Lines as a long distance truck driver, He also was an employee of Longshoreman's for many years and did numerous side jobs as a roofer, where he then retired. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Roseanna Clifton and Sharyl Clifton; 1 daughter in law, Shelly Clifton and 1 son in law, Jake Caswell. Frederick leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Brenda Clifton; 5 sons, Robert, Frederick Jr., Dwayne, Brick Clifton and Darryl Smith; 5 daughters, Deborah Mays, Diana Caswell, Sharon and Karen Warren and Desiree Clifton Pritchett; 2 daughter in laws, Michelle Clifton and Sherell Clifton; 2 son in laws, Samuel Princhett and Anthony Mays and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.
