Dhalia Jessop

August 20, 1957 — August 6, 2022

Dhalia Amryll Rheta Jessop was a simple, no-nonsense girl who was dedicated to her God, her husband and the work of the Kingdom of God.

Dhalia was born in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to Ewart and Iona Davis. She was the first of five children to Iona and the third to Ewart, a widower.

Dhalia was homeschooled from the age of 12 and obtained six subjects at the Ordinary Level of General Certificate of Education by the age of 17. She was instrumental in providing for her younger siblings after their father passed away when she was 25 years old.

She loved shopping, cooking, baking and playing the piano. She started her musical journey at the age of five and was formally educated in Music Theory and Classic Piano through the Trinity School of Music - attaining Grade 7. Dhalia loved the hymns. She heard a hymn and she started singing. Her favorite hymn was "Yes, Jesus Loves Me."

Dhalia's working career began three days before her 18th birthday at the Ministry of Education as a Clerk in the Accounts Department. When her supervisor from the Ministry of Education moved on to the School Nutrition Company, impressed by her work ethic, he sought after her to join the accounting department of the company. While at the School Nutrition Company she worked single-handedly with the accounting firm Pannell, now Pannell Kerr Foster, to computerize the company's payroll. Upon moving to the United States she worked in the investment industry in several positions before starting her own baking business. She was a fixture on the corner of Castor Avenue and Wingohocking Street in Philadelphia for ten years.

Dhalia was a dedicated person who simply lived by the code of "Do unto your neighbor as you would have them do unto you." She loved with her whole being and was often hurt when it was not reciprocated, yet she kept on loving. She did nothing half-heartedly--she gave her all ALWAYS!

Dhalia was preceded in death by her mother Iona Davis and father Ewart Davis. She is survived by her husband Reney, her sisters Ann, Jean, Perevel (Perry), Megan and Penelope (Penny), and her brother Oral, as well as a host of close relatives and friends. Previous Events
