Carl Eugene Bowie, Jr.

August 21, 1955 — August 5, 2019

Mr. Carol Eugene Bowie, Jr. , affectionately known as Junny by his family was born in Elkton, Maryland on August 21, 1955. He was the oldest brother of nine siblings. Junny received his education in Delaware and Maryland Public Schools and attended Harford Community College. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1976 and served for nine years. Following this, Junny transitioned to civilian employment for the United States government serving mostly overseas for nearly a decade. After government service, Junny began employment with Dart as a bus driver for five years then took a position with the State of Delaware, Delaware Psychiatric Center as an Assistant Supervisor until he retired in 2016. Junny always had a curiosity for how things operated. As a child, he would take apart all kinds of electronics and motorized toys and small appliances to see if he could put them back together again. He did this so much that he often got in trouble by his parents for taking everything apart. He most times, however, would reassemble the items in working order. This skill carried on into adulthood. Junny was skilled at all kinds of things, such as; auto mechanics, carpentry, electrical and masonry. He had a special interest in working with wood; like carving walking sticks from tree branches and building household furniture. A few of his hobbies were cooking, playing chess, decorating, fishing, socializing and he loved being a big brother. It seemed that whatever Junny did he did it with excellence. Junny was a very fun loving person. It was not unusual for him to pop up for a surprise visit at your house. He would enjoy drinking coffee and having good conversation about the good old days. As children, Junny's youngest brothers and sisters used to look forward to him coming home for the holidays. At Christmas he would come home with a big bag of gifts for everyone. His siblings would be so excited to see him as if he was a real life Santa Claus. His thoughtfulness never changed but carried on through his sibling's adult years. Junny made sure that each family member had something on Christmas Day. Even until the end, Junny's giving never stopped and every gift was thought out with creativity and love. Most recently Junny found a new passion; it was making plans to marry his love, Cynthia Norwood. In the beginning of his relationship with Cynthia, Junny would share his plans for dates and gifts he intended to shower her with to win her love; it worked. Junny and his fianc, Cynthia planned to be married this year. He wanted to spend the rest of his life with her and he did. On August 5, 2019, Junny went home to be with the Lord. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving fianc. Cynthia Norwood; one brother, Stanley Earl (Tracy); five sisters, Onna Jones (Michael), Anna Caulk, Stephanie Roberts (Michael),Ju-Juanna Wilson (Eshan), Collina Earl (Harold); a special aunt, Latesha Stansbury and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Junny was preceded in death by his mother, Collina Earl; father, Carl Bowie, Sr.; Step-Father, Howard Earl, Jr; two brothers, Richard Owens, Jr and Kenneth Owens, Sr. and his previous daughter, Paige. Junny will be missed by many and his memory and legacy will live on through those lives he touched. Rest in Peace Fianc, Brother, Nephew, Uncle, Cousin, and Friend.
