Brenda Lee Jackson

September 18, 1949 — January 8, 2021

In his infinite wisdom and mercy, our Lord and Savior sent his angels to call our beloved Brenda Lee Jackson to rest on January 8, 2021. Brenda was born at the old family home in Delmar, Maryland's Woodlawn Section, with assistance from a midwife. Her parents were Floyd Jackson and Lorraine West. She was the third of four children born to Lorraine West and her only daughter. Brenda attended the Wicomico County Public Schools and at a young age moved to live with her paternal grandparents, Sandy and Virgie Jackson in Hebron, MD. In 1995, she moved to Delaware and resided with her late parents Lorraine and the Rev. Oliver Jarmon. Brenda worked for Delaware Chimes as well as the Elwyn Institute in the Xray Film Recycling Department. She was employed with the Elwyn Institute for over 10 years until her retirement in 2017. She enjoyed attending Faith City Family Church and taking out-of-state trips with her housemates at the Foulk Road Group Home. Brenda had a joyful, energetic spirit and loved to talk about her early life in Maryland, movies and current events. She also enjoyed talking with her family on the phone, attending large family gatherings such as West Family Reunions, Thanksgiving, and barbecues. Most importantly, Brenda enjoyed eating good food and going out to dinner at Hometown Buffet with her brothers, George Gale and Shadeed Rashada. She loved watching the TvLand Network and vintage movies in addition to listening to music and dancing. James Brown and Michael Jackson were just two of her favorites. She was preceded in death by her parents Floyd Jackson, Lorraine Jarmon and the Rev. Oliver Jarmon and an elder brother, Phillip West. Left to cherish her memory are: her brothers George Gale (Carolyn); Shadeed Rashada (late Peggy); step-sister, Sheila Hyman and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Special thanks to Chantal Smith and the caregivers at the Foulk Road Group Home.
